Gary Cohen

Gary is a lawyer with a real-life MBA. In addition to over 9 years’ experience in the large law firm world, he spent a decade serving in various capacities in the entrepreneurial world where he specialized in making order out of chaos.

He has (deep breath) co-founded, worked for, consulted with, mentored, advised, studied, and otherwise helped numerous young companies. On the business side, Gary has expertise in operations, capital raising, financial modeling, budgeting and accounting, hiring, strategic planning, and business plan evaluation. On the legal side, he is experienced in funding, contracts, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, structuring, licensing and intellectual property. He enjoys problem solving and finding creative solutions to his clients’ problems.

Within the community, Gary has served as a mentor for TechWildcatters, a Dallas-based startup accelerator, since its inception. He also serves on the regional board of the Anti-Defamation League.

Gary is a graduate of both Duke University and the Duke University School of Law, and has been a member of the Duke Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee since 1996. And yes, he cares very deeply about the Duke basketball team.

In addition to watching Duke win national championships, he enjoys food, wine, travel, sports of all kinds, and spending time with his wife and daughter. He is a veteran of the children’s birthday party circuit. Sometimes he even cooks dinner.
